Check Out This Elephant Simply Ignoring Human Law And Crossing Borders Without Any Travel Documents

07th March 2018 UNDER Blog

If you want evidence of how ridiculous imaginary lines drawn on maps of the planet known as borders are, and why it is so silly that human beings fixate on our differences instead of celebrating our similarities, then look no further than this video. Security cameras placed at a border crossing in China recorded footage of an elephant showing complete disregard for man made laws by wandering into Laos from China. And to think it did so without either a visa or passport!

Slinking across the border

But seriously folks, check out the video which was recorded at the Chahe border in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan province China. You will see an elephant negotiating its way around a barrier marking the border between China and Laos and making its way into the Laotian region of Luang Namtha at about 4.30 in the morning. Eagle eyed border officials quickly dispatched teams to warn local villagers that they may be in danger.

Searching for food

Fortunately, the elephant did no damage whatsoever and returned to China from Laos, crossing the very same border just two hours later. According to officials, the elephant was last seen wandering off in to the forest. Officials think the elephant was most likely hungry and simply search for food. If only it was as easy for humans to ignore social constructions such as borders or cultural differences as it is for elephants, we think the world would be a much better place.
