Check Out This Gigantic Crocodile Found In Sri Lanka

A massive crocodile that measured 17 feet with a weight nearing 2000 pounds was recently discovered in the Sri Lankan city of Matara. According to Reuters the croc was found stuck in a canal. It is said to be the largest crocodile in the country and experts thinks that the reptile was looking for food in a canal just of the Nilawala River where it became trapped following heavy rains.

 “We found a similar size crocodile four, five months back in the Polathumordara River,” environmentalist Uppala Jayatissa told local TV stations. “This is the maximum these type of crocodiles grow [at least in Sri Lanka].”

Wildlife officials in Sri Lanka were forced to use an excavator to load the croc onto a truck and return the huge carnivore to the river. Wildlife Department official Ravindra Kumar said that they were able to achieve their goal with the help of villagers and police. The crocodile was returned to where it came from without any injury.
