A man who tried to impress his female friends by sneaking into a panda enclosure in a Chinese zoo ended up having to wrestle with the animal. The man leapt into the panda enclosure at Nanchang Zoo which is located in the Eastern part of China’s Jianxi Province. He tried to tease the sleeping panda whose name is Meiling.

Panda meant no harm

The panda awoke and immediately began to run to him and grip on the man’s leg. According to zoo authorities, the panda meant no harm and it is actually a move used by pandas when they play with their handlers.  After initially being amused by playing with the panda, panic started to emerge when the animal wrestled the man to the ground. Fortunately for the man he managed to escape from the strong grip of the animal.

Panda being monitored

The zoo’s deputy head of management said the individual immediately left the zoo after the encounter and the zoo was unable to get in touch with him. Witnesses say his trousers were torn by the panda, but he escaped largely unscathed. Medical checks were also arranged for the panda and its handlers have been told closely observe the animal, though so far everything appears normal.
