Animal Service Department Rescues Puppy With Arrow Lodged In Neck

21st October 2016 UNDER Blog

Staff at an animal services department in North Carolina were distressed when they responded to a call and found a stray puppy with an arrow that was wedged in her neck. Angela Davis of the Madison County Animal Services said in her nine years of working for the department it was one of the saddest cases of animal cruelty she has ever seen. Ms Davis and her team took the injured puppy to an animal hospital where she underwent emergency surgery and had to stay overnight. Ms Davis crowd-sourced the money to pay for the hospital bills. Ms Davis adds that the puppy is now recovering with a foster family and has been named Grace.

“We were all in the office when we were loading her in the truck and we were trying to come up with a name real quick, Several of us said, ‘It is by the grace of God that she is even alive,’ so Grace stuck. The arrow missed all vital organs. They say she will be able to make a full recovery.”

Grateful for community response

Ms Davis adds that many people in the community have offered to provide Grace with a permanent home. She says her department really appreciates all the support it has received and is testament to both the community and animal lovers all over the country.
