Aspinall Foundation Keepers Raise £1000 for Charity

20th November 2012 UNDER Blog

The awesome primate keepers at the Howletts Wildlife Park have managed to raise £1,000 towards the Aspinall Foundation’s Java Primate project.  The keepers got their heads together to find a way to help raise something towards the £10,000 required for the Back in the Wild Appeal, and managed to raise 10% of the target themselves by taking part in a 10K run.

Having taken part in one of these runs myself, let me tell you it’s not an easy task, so to raise £1,000 towards such a worthwhile appeal is a great effort by all concerned. ‘Team Java’ is made up from the primate keepers at the Kent based wildlife park, these people really do have a love for animals!

Fundraising Manager, Sarah Tite, said –

Team Java is a great example of what can be achieved through sponsorship and teamwork – I’m delighted that they have raised so much for our Java Primate Project in Indonesia. A team sponsored event is a great way of raising money for The Aspinall Foundation. There are so many ways this can be done – skydiving, running, climbing, walking and abseiling or making cupcakes – we’ve even had someone bounce on a space hopper to raise money.  I’m challenging all those companies, groups and animal lovers out there to see if they can raise more money than team Java, to help send animals back to the wild where they belong.

This amazing appeal was launched back in  14th June 2012 to raise much needed funds to help the Aspinall Foundation to continue their work sending animals born in captivity back to protected areas of their homeland. The Aspinall Foundation recently sent a family of eleven gorillas back to Africa to begin a new life in their natural habitat, a process made possible by the Back in the Wild Appeal.
