Aspinall Keepers to Run 10K in Aid of Endangered Java

17th September 2012 UNDER Blog

Keepers from the primate enclosures at the Howletts and Port Lympne Wild Animal Parks will be joining forces to help raise money for the Aspinall Foundation’s Back To The Wild Appeal. The keepers will be running 10 kilometres on Sunday 14th October 2012 at the Julie Rose Stadium in Kent, which is an amazing stadium nestled beneath the beautiful North Downs with stunning views along the Stour Valley.

The Back to the Wild Appeal was first launched back in mid June 2012 to raise £10,000 to help send captive born animals back to the wild. They have already managed to rustle up £6,000 already, so not long to go now. This initiative has been set up to try and boost the indigenous populations in the wild of Java that are threatened by extinction. The team that is running are looking to raise £400, so if you would like to sponsor them on this worthwhile fundraising scheme, simply click on the link below to make a donation.

Fundraising Manager, Sarah Tite, said :

We are so close now; we need just under £4000 to reach our goal – it’s great that Simon, Matt, Adam and Phil, or Team Java as they will be called, are donning their running shoes to raise money for The Back To The Wild Appeal.

Here’s hoping them the best of luck in their endeavours. The team here at Udopt have taken part in a charity 10K run, and let me tell you, it’s a lot harder than you would imagine! If you would like to adopt a primate through the Aspinall Foundation, we have a great selection to choose from. You could heaven take out Udopter test, to see which animal matches your personality!
