Cats And Dogs Exhibition

25th February 2022 UNDER Blog

There is a new exhibition at the Horniman Museum in London that teaches you all about our favourite pets; Cats and Dogs. The exhibition takes the visitor on a journey into the amazing world of cats and dogs, from when they were first domesticated to today.

Celebration of cats and dogs

See a new perspective on their behaviour, how they view the world, and how they communicate with each other and us. Essentially the exhibition celebrates the love we have for our favourite pets, and highlights the roles and relationships they play in our lives.

Pets perspective

The exhibition gives you a pets eye perspective on the world, and allows the visitor to learn what it is like to be a dog or a cat. It goes some way to answering those questions we all have about out pets such as wondering what it is your dog or cat is thinking, or why cats suddenly start chasing nothing, and why do dogs bark when there’s no-one there!

You can also test your ability to see how you compare to your favourite pet. Can you jump as high as a cat? Or are you as fast and agile as a dog?

Three Sections

There are three interactive zones within the exhibition:
1. In Their Skin gives the visitor the ability to compare yourself to the skills and senses of cats and dogs.
2. In Their Heads looks in to their brains and allows you to do wonderful things like learning to speak cat and find out why they behave the way they do.
3. In Our Society gives an insight into our relationship with dogs and cats, the history of us having them as pets and how they help us currently.

The exhibition runs at the Horniman Museum until 30th October.
