Moray Eel Attack Captured On Video

07th January 2017 UNDER Blog

National Geographic filmmakers and photographers are famous for their ability to capture nature at its most candid. They have managed to film everything from giant jellyfish off the South African coast to a close up of a walrus sleeping on the seashore of Russia.

Underwater fight

Recently the famous nature magazine posted a new video showing a couple of snorkelers in Hawaii chance upon a fight between an octopus and a moray eel. The eel was able to bite of one of the octopus’ tentacles. That however is not much of a problem for the octopus because they are able to regenerate another tentacle without suffering any permanent damage.

The fight was intense, and the octopus was able to swim away after using its defence mechanism, its oil squirt on the eel. The excitement didn’t stop there however, the humans who were filming the event ended up becoming part of the action. The eel quickly turns its attention to the camera and tries to attack it. Fortunately for the snorkeler, he happened to be a fast swimmer.
