In a strange event, a humpback whale was spotted stranded in the Australian sea. The whale was a mother to a calf who was seen attempting to rescue its mother by pushing it off the sandbank. After struggling for more than 30 minutes the calf was able to push its mother into deeper water. The incident occurred about 100 kilometres South-West of Brisbane near North Stradbroke Island. Wildlife officials were the first ones to see the calf pushing its mother into deeper waters. A rescue team arrived at the spot of the stranding but were pleased to see their services were unnecessary because both mother and calf were free and were swimming in the sea.
